Arkema is the world's second biggest producer of hydrazine hydrate. This product and its derivatives are widely used in many industrial applications: chemicals, pharmaceutical products, agrochemistry, water treatment, photography, etc.
Hydrazine hydrate is a highly effective reducing agent used:
In the synthesis of:
- Blowing agents: azodicarbonamide
- Bio-active intermediates for agrochemical and pharmaceutical products, via Triazoles
- Various products: certain organic pigments for dyes, reagents for photography, urethanes and acrylics, hydrobromic acid, etc.
Directly as:
- An anticorrosion additive in the water circuits of thermal and nuclear plants.
- An oxygen scavenger in the water of industrial boilers and high pressure steam generators.
In the:
- Refining of precious metals
- Recovery of metals from pickling and surface treatment solutions
- Treatment of liquid and gas wastes
- Purification of sulfuric acid for grades used on the electronics market
- Metallisation of plastics and metals (nickel, cobalt, iron, chromium, etc.)
- Formulation of rocket fuels (Ariane 4)
- In the Actired® process used mainly in gold mines.
Arkema offers an hydrazine hydrate with an exceptional degree of purity:
- Extremely low chloride content
- Low total organic carbon content
- Few mineral residues and metallic impurities
A bifunctional and nucleophile base, hydrazine hydrate is used to obtain many derivatives including:
- Liozan®: this anticorrosion product provides faster oxygen scavenging and offers the possibility of working at lower temperatures
- Hydrazine salts: 3 products, mainly used as synthesis intermediates (especially in the pharmaceuticals industry)
- Triazoles: 1,2,4 Triazole / 1,2,4 Triazole Sodium Salt / 4 Amino 1,2,4 Triazole / 3 Amino 1,2,4 Triazole
- Aminoguanidine bicarbonate
- New polymerization initiators such as our liquid azo
