Business Units

Arkema Inc. comprises more than seven individual business units, ranging from Acrylic Monomers to Thiochemicals. Each business unit includes some of the best-known brands in the industry:

Acrylic Monomers:
Arkema's specialty acrylic/methacrylic monomers, such as the Norsocryl^® acrylic monomers 100 series, offer enhanced adhesion in water and solvent-based architectural coatings.

Arkema Emulsion Systems:
Produces and markets latexes (waterborne polymer emulsions) for many industries, including architectural and industrial coatings, construction, traffic paints, sealants and adhesives.  Headquartered in Cary, N.C., USA, Arkema Emulsion Systems operates three production facilities in North America and employs approximately 170 people in areas such as polymer development, application research, chemical engineering, production, sales, marketing and customer service.

Fluorochemicals:
Arkema is one of the world's top producers of Fluorochemicals, including both refrigerants and foams, solvents, and aerosols, under the brand Forane^® fluorochemicals.

Functional Additives:
Arkema manufactures a comprehensive line of high-quality, high-performance additives for a wide variety of applications – including catalysts, coatings, epoxides and plastic additives. Under the Luperox^® brand name, Arkema has introduced more new organic peroxides than the rest of the industry combined, including the first peroxide for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) -- which quickly became the major initiator used in manufacturing PVC resin.

Hydrogen Peroxide:
Globally, Arkema is the world's third largest producer of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) used for bleaching wood pulp for paper, bleaching textiles, treating wastewater, sanitizing for food production and cleaning circuit boards.

PMMA (Altuglas International):
Altuglas International, www.altuglasint.com, is a leader in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) technology worldwide.

Technical Polymers:
Our technical polymers product line includes some of the most versatile and popular products in the industry including: Pebax^® resins, Platamid^® resins, Rilsan^® nylon 11 & 12, Rilsan^® nylon powder coatings, Kynar 500^® architectural coatings, Kynar^® high performance plastics, and Kynar^® PVDF resins.

Thiochemicals:
The Thiochemicals business unit of Arkema is the global leader in thiochemicals and a major producer of oxygenated solvents.
