Platamid® Hot Melt Adhesivies Self-Bonding Wire

The Platamid® Hot Melt Adhesives for "self-bonding (magnet) wire" applications offers a group of high molecular weight, partially crystalline nylon types with different melting characteristics for bonding of :
  • Deflection yoke coils for black & white and colour TV's
  • Deflection yoke coils for computer displays
  • Small coils for video recorders
The Platamid® Hot Melt Adhesives are applied out of a cresolic solution (if necessary blended with aromatic hydrocarbons) onto insulated copper wires. The thermal activation of the hot melt layer after coiling can be done by means of induction or hot air.

The materials of this product range have the following properties:
  • Excellent adhesion to all kinds of insulation materials based on
    • Polyurethane
    • Polyester
    • Polyesterimide
    • Poly (amide-imide)
  • High stability in view of thermo-oxidative degradation in case of coating applications out of a cresolic solution at hot air temperatures up to 400°C
  • Very low retardment of cresol
  • Low coil deformation after mold release
  • Low degree of water absorption, therefore high dimensional stability of the coils by use in wet and hot weather conditions
  • Very low tack after coil forming, cooling down and mold release
  • Partially crystalline, therefore high dimensional stability even when applied at temperatures just below the melting temperature
All products of this range are compatible. Thus, they can be mixed in a cresolic solution to reach special effects.

Some of the Platamid® Hot Melt Adhesives are soluble in alcohols. For more information, please contact our technical representatives.

These products are not soluble in esters, ketones and all kind of hydrocarbons.
