Employee and Contractor Safety Arkema is committed to an injury-free workplace for its employees and contractors. This commitment starts at the top, with our president and chief executive officer, and extends through all levels of the company. We have adopted a number of initiatives focused on reducing the number and severity of safety incidents at our facilities. Major initiatives in place include the implementation of Behavior Based Safety programs at all manufacturing sites to eliminate at-risk behaviors, the expansion of an ergonomics program to address strains and sprains and the continuation of Arkema's "Lend an Hand" program to reduce hand injuries. In addition, we have an initiative under way that is focusing on high severity incidents, their causes and ways to prevent them. We are also focusing on improving the sharing of lessons learned from past incidents and studying ways to improve contractor safety at our facilities.

* Arkema calculates its lost workday case incident rate (LWCIR) following OSHA regulations. The calculations in parentheses reflect this calculation based on both days away from work cases and restricted duty cases. The lower numbers reflect the calculations made by the ACC. These data include days away from work cases only. Arkema and OSHA calculation: (Days Away from Work Cases + Restricted Duty Cases) x 200,000)/annual worker hours ACC calculation: (Days Away from Work Cases) x 200,000)/annual worker hours
