Refrigerants

Over the last 10 years, we have developed a variety of alternative fluids based on HCFC and HFC blends that provide non-flammable and non-toxic materials for the air-conditioning and refrigeration markets. These different materials provide efficient alternatives over a variety of conditions required by this industry, which can range from walk-in freezers installed in high-temperature environments to heat pumps that must operate efficiently in both heating and cooling modes. Along with the development of new fluids for these applications, our process research teams continue to develop new processes to efficiently produce the fluorochemicals used in these blends, as well as to optimize the processes currently in place. Arkema currently produces more than half a dozen fluorochemicals in large-scale, state-of-the-art facilities in Europe, America and China.

Fluorochemicals research maintains a strong customer relationship. Additionally, we are a major technical contributor to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the leading industry forum for the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry.
