Sulfurized Additives for Lubricants: TPSTM, VPS and SPS10LS
Arkema produces sulfur based extreme pressure additives for metalworking fluids and other industrial lubricants such as greases, slideway oils, and gear oils. These additives are light color, low odor, and have an excellent environmental and safety profile. Active sulfurized additives react at low temperature while inactive sulfurized additives are very stable and do not corrode copper. Our product line consists of TPS (tertiary alkyl poly-sulfides), VPS (clear sulfurized esters), and SPS10LS, a water soluble polysulfide.
If you are using sulfurized polyisobutenes, chlorinated paraffins, or sulfurized fats, consider Arkema polysulfides instead.
TPSTM: Extreme Pressure Additives for Metalworking Fluids and Gear Oils
Thanks to their structure, TPS provide sulfur exactly where and when you need it.
TPS 20 and 44: Trisulfide extreme-pressure and anti-wear additives, which are virtually non-corrosive to copper. They are suitable for working with copper alloys, gear oil formulations, and soluble oil formulations for cold-rolling. Trisulfides provide excellent thermal stability. The low viscosity and high sulfur content of TPS44 makes it the best choice for long lasting gear oil formulations. TPS20 is odorless, making it the best choice for rolling oils.
TPS32 and 37LS: Pentasulfide extreme pressure additives with high active sulfur content readily available even at low temperatures. TPS32 and 37LS have excellent chemical stability and are lighter color and lower odor than sulfurized olefins. They are particularly suitable for highly demanding applications with steel.
Benefits of TPS:
-- Chlorine free with no remaining unsaturated compounds -- Light color: clear and transparent fluid -- Low odor: sulfur content without sulfur odor -- Excellent thermal and chemical stability -- Fully soluble in all base oils with no prior heating -- Virtually non-toxic: does not irritate skin or stain clothes
VPS: Vegetable Polysulfides Low Color, Sulfurized Esters
VPS is a versatile additive: thanks to its polar head groups and fatty chains it improves lubricity and AW (anti-wear) properties together while also extending EP performance. VPS are produced from renewalbe vegetable raw materials and are the ideal alternative to sulfurized lards.
VPS 11 and VPS 15: inactive sulfur additives VPS 17: active sulfur additives
SPS10:LS: Water Soluble Polysulfide
SPS10:LS is a highly innovative water soluble extreme pressure additive designed for water miscible fluids. Stable, transparent and non-foaming, SPS10LS is the ideal way to boost EP performance of synthetic or semi-synthetic metal working fluids formulations.
